Preparation

Overwhelmed with the thought that in exactly one month I will be leaving Steamboat and venturing off once again into the unknown, I find myself easily distracted and overly consumed, I am constantly being reminded of the struggles, challenges, and trials that we are put through to "prepare" us for Africa. I am all too familiar with these feelings of desperation and uncertainty but leading a group of girls through all of this is new to me. It is really easy in times of preparation to forget about the purpose behind all of this in the first place. I wake up each day and remind myself of the goodness that is to come only to have to wake up and bring myself back each day to that very thought. But underneath all the distraction and allure to be busy, busy, busy, I take moments through out my day and remember that I am here. Now.

That there is nothing more important than understanding what is beyond our control, what is of us and what isn't, what we do while we are here, in this moment and the true significance of that and only that. I pray that in whatever we are being prepared to do that we don't forget to live in this moment. To embrace that life is just as much about the journey as it is the destination.

When we start to understand that this life isn't even about us, it is then we can alleviate some of the burdens we take on that are much bigger than we are. That no matter what it takes to get to where we are going that we will be protected and loved if what we are doing comes from a heart that is in it for the right reasons. When stepping into this new role as a leader I knew it would be different and confusing but I am learning what it really means to lead in every moment, every day and in everything thing that I do. That being a true leader doesn't only happen in leadership but in everyday life. In that, I am learning that that part of preparation is to let go and let God.

Till next time,

New Beginnings

Hey Ya'll!

I am new to this whole blogging thing. Please bare with me and be patient and understanding of the fact that I am actually blonde and it does take me a little longer to catch on. Lots of incredible things are emerging in my life and in the lives of some really cool people that I just so happen to call my friends. Thus... this blog. I want to share it all, no matter where I am in the world and how badly I smell.

Looking forward to celebrating the joy, struggles and trials that is: life.
